Moonblood Readthrough

https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/2343624-moonblood-readthrough-2015

Hello! I wanted to share something I am organizing.

You see, I am part of a Goodreads group called Imps of Goldstone Wood, which is all about one of my top favorite series of books, called Tales of Goldstone Wood by Anne Elisabeth Stengl. For weeks I have been hearing the girls on the group talk about how much they love it, fantasizing about the newest book coming out May 25, and participating in the Fan Art Contest.

They made me want to read the series again.

So, I came up with this grand scheme. If I'm going to read the series again, why do it alone? So, I started organizing a readthrough, which, from what I know, is similar to an online book club. Anne Elisabeth herself had some readthroughs on her blog in years past. They read the first two books in the series--Heartless and Veiled Rose. Unfortunately, however, I did not participate in them, only watched the second one from a distance.

I asked the opinions of the girls (there are some guys too, I might mention) in the Goodreads group, and they sounded ecstatic about the idea. They gave me opinions on which book to read, dates, times, and many of the other important details.

Here is the plan:

We will read Moonblood, the third book in the series because there have already been readthroughs on the first two. We begin on May 1, 2015, about a week from today. Each week, we will read five chapters each week and chat about it on Goodreads every Saturday. One of the girls estimated that we will be finished mid-June.

I am planning to put together a schedule in the next few days and maybe some questions to lead the discussions, which we may or may not actually need.

Sound interesting? Everyone is invited to join.

However, there is one thing you should know first. The Tales of Goldstone Wood are generally stand alone novels set in the same YA fantasy world with a few of the same characters. However, Moonblood is one of the only books in the series that is not stand-alone. Therefore, anyone participating needs to have read Veiled Rose in order to understand what is going on in Moonblood. In fact, it would be even better if you read Heartless, Veiled Rose, and then Moonblood. If you have not read Veiled Rose, you have one week to do so before we begin reading.
(If you ask in the comments, though, I may be willing to email you a detailed summary of the book to give you an idea of what is going on. But it would still be so much better if you read Veiled Rose.)

That said, if anyone wants to join the readthrough, you can do so here.

And now, for some information on Moonblood, one of my favorite books in the series and out of all the books I have ever read.

Interested? You can join the readthrough here.

Have any of you participated in readthroughs or book clubs? Have any tips for this blogger who has never participated in or led one before?
