But if there’s anything Izze handles worse than change, it’s trust. She may have a few issues—fine, she knows she does. But will they keep getting in the way of any chance of her own Happily Ever After? She wants to trust God to give her those dreams of love and lace, but that’s going to require some…minor alterations.

V. Joy Palmer is an avid blogger and is co-founder of Snack Time Devotions. She is a youth leader at her church, and loves acting crazy and drinking coffee with the teens. When Joy isn’t urging the elves that live in her computer to write, she’s hanging out with her husband, their adorable baby girl, and their two socially awkward cats. This is her debut novel.
Izze is just going about her life, minding her own
business and selling wedding dresses, when this man shows up and changes start
happening in her life. Her aunt sells the bridal shop to a longtime friend, and
the new owner hires the new guy. He has all kinds of plans for the business …
and Izze. But you know what? Izze is not going to let it happen.
Love, Lace,
and Minor Alterations was a book I had been seeing making rounds on people’s
favorites lists. So I decided to give it a try. It was hilarious! The tone of
the story was fun and playful, and the characters were super memorable. And I
absolutely adored how sweet the romance was.
What I loved most about this book was the
characters. Izze was super spunky. She was constantly thinking, saying, and
doing all kinds of ridiculous things, like experimenting with yawning in
public. She was clumsy and a little absent-minded, too, such as when she got
hit by a sled or dyed her hands bright red. And Izze really, really hated
change, and when she decided something about someone, it took valiant effort to
change her opinions. But she was a very likeable character. Her thoughts would
wander off within the narration, making it feel as though I was actually in the
character’s head, more so than with any other character I have ever read about.
She was so vibrant and alive, and it really made me consider what it would be
like to have a different personality, because Izze’s is very different than
mine. Yet she was relatable even so.
I also liked the romance. It was super sweet! To
have a man so relentlessly pursue a woman, making romantic gestures and meeting
her at a deeper level with her faith. They certainly had their bumps in the
road, but they learned from their mistakes to become better people, not to mention
better as a couple.
Truly, I enjoyed this book very, very much and will
be looking forward to any new books from V. Joy Palmer! I recommend it to
people who enjoy sweet, contemporary, Christian romances.
