Book Tour: "The League of Elder: Sygillis of Metatron"

For ages League mothers have told their children terrifying stories about the Black Hats: a sect of murderous women eager to slay anyone who falls into their grasp, always searching for their next victim.
Only Sisterhood of Light have been able to counter their evil. When a Black Hat is taken prisoner aboard Captain Davage's ship, the Sisters have every intention of executing her, but they are astounded when the captain refuses to allow it.

Captain Davage has gotten a glimpse of the Black Hat's face, and is shocked. Though no one but a Sister would ever willingly face a Black Hat, he enters her cell.

The woman sitting there bears an exact resemblance to a beloved friend of the Captain's-a friend who is dead. Immediately, the Black Hat known as Sygillis of Metatron plots Captain Davage's murder and, though the Sisters are near, none can protect him from her fury

Is it possible that two sworn enemies may fall in love? Can remorseless evil be redeemed in the end? Good and evil, love and hate, only one side can triumph in The League of Elder: Sygillis of Metatron, a galactic journey full of romance, suspense, and the unexpected.

Author Interview

Tell us about your writing - What genre do you prefer to write? What books, stories, other publications that you've written are your personal favorites? Anything new coming up?

I write science fiction/fantasy books. Very low on the science, very high on the fantasy. I have a giant-sized imagination that’s extruded from my brain like a slushie at the gas station, and such a genre is well-suited for me. I don’t think I have a personal favorite, I’m happy with them all. Essentially, I write stories that I like to read. I’m fairly minimalist when it comes to floral descriptions, I’ve been taught plot is king, and I’m a really good plotter. The next book in the series is Book 10: The House of Bloodstein: Perlamum, followed by The House of Bloodstein: Mentralysis. I’m very excited for this series. It should be a lot of fun.

If you could travel to any time in history, when would you visit?

I thought the 80’s were pretty cool.

If you could travel anywhere, on earth or off, where would you go?

Saturn

Describe your dream writing spot.

Author's Top Ten

Top Ten People I would like to meet.
  1. J.R.R. Tolkien. I mean, who wouldn't want to meet the "father" of fantasy?
  2. J.K. Rowling. If she can make it with an oddball fantasy series, surely I can too, and I'd love to pick her brain about that.
  3. Joan of Ark - I think her life story is just fascinating.
  4. C.S. Lewis - He was an amazing writer. Can't imagine what life would be like without Narnia.
  5. Robin McKinley - She's always been one of my fave fantasy authors. I have a few bones to pick though, about hinted stories that never got written.
  6. Mark Twain - He seems like he'd have been a great guy to know.
  7. Albert Einstein - Would love to meet the man who contributed so much to how we see the world.
  8. King Charlemagne - An ancestor on both sides of the family, I understand he was one of the first people to instigate a public education system for his people. That, and he had some really cool things happen in his life.
  9. Harrison Ford - He's one of my fave actors of all time. He's just awesome.
  10. Danny Kaye - Another childhood favorite actor, I think Danny and I would have gotten along swimmingly. That, and the fact that he sang like a dream, even though he couldn't read a note of music.

Book Review: "King's Folly" by Jill Williamson

Description

King's Folly (Kinsman Chronicles #1)
Jill Williamson

Synopsis:

The gods are angry.

Volcanic eruptions, sinkholes, ground shakers--everything points to their unhappiness. At least that is what the king of Armania believes. His son, Prince Wilek, thinks his father's superstitions are nonsense, though he remains the ever dutiful heir apparent to the throne.

When a messenger arrives and claims that the town of Farway has been swallowed by the earth, the king sends Wilek to investigate. But what Wilek discovers is more cataclysmic than one lost city. Even as the ground shifts beneath his feet, Wilek sets out on a desperate journey to save his people and his world. But can he do it before the entire land crumbles?

Flags of the Five Realms

Review

The world is falling apart. Earth quakes, floods, volcanoes, sinkholes, and avalanches all point to one thing—the prophesied Five Woes have come upon the Five Realms. Why? There are conflicting reasons, but one thing is for sure—the gods are angry. But that will not stop politics and international trouble. One of the three princes of Armania must be chosen as heir in the midst of natural disasters, sacrifices, marriages, prophecies, cults, murders, kidnappings…

Where do I even begin with King’s Folly? It was wholly and entirely epic and awesome. It encompassed so much, I would even compare it to the Lord of the Rings Series. Both series had a myriad of characters, cultures, subplots, and prophecies that required a glossary and could only be split into more than three books for publication. And King’s Folly is only book one, despite having its three major parts published individually! But I can say this—it was epic! It is a great beginning to yet another fantastic series by Jill Williamson.

First off, yes, there were many, many characters. As you read, though, you grow to know each of them and are able to keep from getting them confused. Jill Williamson did a great job with the characters, too. You grow to feel for and understand even some of the villains. Then there are the characters like Wilek, Trevn, and Mielle who you really grow to love! I cannot wait until the next book comes out!

Second, this book is Christian but it is also dark. Think human sacrifice, false gods, consorting with demons, dark magic, drugs, and cults. Yikes! Part one, Darkness Reigns, was aptly named. But the book still had an air of hope about it. The main characters hate and fight against those things as much as they can. Love and hope prevail. The true, allegorically-Christian God will be revealed, of that I have no doubt. The pieces are already in place for that to begin. But, like Israel and Judah just before their judgment in the Old Testament, the nations are definitely evil. Be prepared. Because of this, I would recommend this book to older teens and adults, no one younger than sixteen, unless they are really ready for it.

I really loved this book and would highly recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction or epic fantasy. It is an adventure of the best sort!

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
